Atomic Wallet Review

Atomic Wallet was founded by Konstantin Gladych in 2017 who is also the co-founder and CEO of Changelly.com, a renowned website for cryptocurrency trading. Atomic Wallet is platform agnostic which means that it can work with all types of operating systems including Mac OS, Windows, Ubuntu and other versions of Linux like Debian and Fedora. The objective of Atomic Wallet is to combine user friendliness and innovative features in one package to enable users to have convenient access.

Atomic Wallet’s name comes from its built-in feature that enables atomic swaps. The desktop app allows crypto traders and enthusiasts to have complete control over their crypto funds as transaction data as well as private keys are stored on user’s device instead of Atomic Wallet’s servers.

Setting Up & Using Atomic Wallet

All you need to do is go to the official website at atomicwallet.io and download and install the wallet on your computer. Once you’ve installed the wallet, click on Open Wallet and set up a strong password that preferably contains a combination of lower and upper case letters, digits and special characters. After you’ve set the password, the wallet will give you a 12-word mnemonic backup phrase so you can note it down somewhere and keep it in a secure place. In the event of any damage to your computer, you can use the phrase to get access to your currency.

When you have copied down the phrase, you can start using your Atomic Wallet. Remember that if you lose the phrase, there won’t be any way to recover the currencies from your wallet.

Using the software wallet isn’t any rocket science either especially with the user friendly interface that Atomic Wallet offers. Sign in to the app using your password and find the coin you want to add to your wallet. Next to the coin, you will see a section called “your address” which will vary from coin to coin. To add coins to your wallet, simply type in or paste the relevant address next to the coin and transfer the funds. It may take up to half an hour for funds to show up in your account.

How Secure is Atomic Wallet

Atomic Wallet brings a variety of innovative security features to the table to keep your coins safe. Some of the crucial ones are listed below:

Advanced Level Encryption

The software wallet runs all connections and transactions in advanced encryption mode. The data being sent and received is also encrypted.

Anonymous

Atomic wallet is a server-less wallet which means it doesn’t require you to register with the service. Similarly, it doesn’t store any of your personal information on the server and doesn’t utilize third parties to carry out transactions. This ensures high level of security.

Private Keys

Just like your personal data, you also have complete control over your private keys as they aren’t stored on Atomic Wallet’s servers. Instead, the keys are stored on your device.

Password & Seed Phrase

Apart from these security measures, your account is secured through a strong password and backed up by a 12-word seed phrase to ensure you can access your coins even in the case of your computer getting compromised or damaged.

Compatibility with Cryptocurrencies

Atomic Wallet is compatible with more than 300 digital currencies including most popular coins as well as all ERC-20 tokens. Some of the major currencies supported by Atomic wallet include Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Stellar, EOS, Litecoin, Tether USD, Cardano, and Monero.

Last Word

All things considered, Atomic Wallet is one of top choices if you are looking for a high security and user-friendly software wallet. The interface is easy to navigate and you can store more than 300 coins in the wallet. A great option for beginners as well as crypto enthusiasts.
